V20 Mini Skid Steer Tiller Frequently Asked Questions

WHAT’S THE BENEFIT OF PRESSURE RELIEF VALVES?

The pressure relief valves protect the motor and the mini loader’s hydraulic system from damaging pressure spikes. When the maximum pressure point is reached, the valve opens to prevent pressure from rising any further. This prevents seals or other internal components from breaking due to excessive pressure.

IS THE MINI TILLER BI-DIRECTIONAL?

The Mini Tiller can be used in either direction, but is designed to till away from the operator.

WHICH DIRECTION SHOULD I ROTATE THE TINES WHILE MOVING?

It is recommended that the mini tiller tines travel in the same direction as the mini loader. Since the tiller can rotate in either direction, the operator must determine which direction the tiller is rotating and match travel direction accordingly.

WHAT IS THE FLOW RATE RANGE OF THE MINI TILLER?

Virnig Mini Tillers are designed with a flow tolerance of 10-18 GPM. All hydraulic motors used by Virnig Manufacturing are rated with zero overflow tolerance. Operating at a flow rate higher than 18 GPM can lead to premature failure and will void the motor warranty.

CAN I GET REPLACEMENT TINES?

Yes, replacement tines and hardware are available for purchase.

WHAT SOIL TYPES DOES THE MINI TILLER WORK BEST ON?

The Mini Tiller is designed to be used on many soil types, but may have trouble in sticky/wet ground or weedy areas that are untended (the weeds will wrap around the rotor). When working sod or compacted soil, multiple passes may be necessary to achieve desired effect.

If you’re consistently stalling the tiller rotor, reduce ground speed, raise tiller higher or lower the skid shoes.

Mowing and removing tall grass and weeds before tilling an area will improve tiller performance since this will minimize wrapping of the grass and weeds around the tiller rotor.

HOW DEEP CAN IT OPERATE?

The Mini Tiller is designed to till up to 6” deep. The two shoes can be adjusted to till 4”, 5” or 6” deep.

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF DIRECT DRIVE MOTOR SYSTEMS?

Direct drive systems have less replaceable wear parts and are more powerful than other drive systems. Direct drive systems are safer than mechanical systems because there are no belt or chain pinch points and no stored energy if hydraulic pressure is properly relieved.

WHICH MINI SKID STEER MOUNTS ARE AVAILABLE?

There are three mini mounts to choose from:

    • • Toro®/Mini-Universal

    • • Bobcat®

    • • ASV®

    • Universal skid steer quick tach mount not available

Virnig Frequently Asked Questions

HOW DO I PURCHASE VIRNIG ATTACHMENTS?

Virnig sells mini skid steer, compact tractor, and skid steer attachments through a network of independently owned dealers throughout the United States and Canada. Call 800-648-2408 for assistance in finding a dealer or use the online Dealer Finder.

WHERE CAN I FIND PRICING INFORMATION?

Please contact a local Virnig dealer to obtain pricing information.

WHAT TYPE OF ATTACHMENT INTERFACE/HOOKUP DOES VIRNIG USE?

All Virnig skid steer attachments are manufactured with a universal mount to fit most skid steer loaders. The mounting frame is built to ISO 24410 and SAE J2513 standards.

All Virnig mini skid steer attachments are manufactured with a Toro®/mini universal mount, Bobcat® mount, or ASV® mount.

WHAT IS THE SETUP TIME FOR A VIRNIG ATTACHMENT?

Most Virnig attachments are ready to work right off the pallet.

To minimize setup time, Virnig Manufacturing requires the machine brand and model to be listed in every order for attachments with hydraulic components. This ensures proper hose length, routing, and coupler sizing. In addition, all hydraulic Virnig Attachments are tested for leaks and proper operation before leaving the factory. There may be specific scenarios in which additional setup time will be required.

HOW QUICKLY CAN I GET REPLACEMENT PARTS?

Most parts for Virnig skid steer attachments are available in-stock and can be shipped as early as the same day the order is received. Fabricated and back ordered parts are available with a reasonable lead time. Virnig uses several shipping options to provide timely and cost effective delivery to customers.

Check with a local Virnig dealer for replacement part availability.

WHAT WARRANTY DOES VIRNIG OFFER?

All Virnig parts and attachments are warranted for one year from the end user’s date of purchase, or the dealer’s date of first rental/demonstration. If the warranty period has expired, a sales receipt or first rental slip will be required for warranty consideration.

WHY DOES VIRNIG USE NITROSTEEL® CYLINDER RODS?

Virnig uses NitroSteel® cylinder rods because they are a superior performing alternative to chrome plating. The finish offers improved corrosion resistance and better grease retention.

Chrome plated cylinder rods can flake or pit and destroy the seals or other internal components; resulting in downtime and expensive repairs.

A NitroSteel® rod will perform better and increase the service life of a cylinder, making it the cost-effective choice. Learn more about the benefits of the NitroSteel® process.
