Walk-Through Pallet Fork Frequently Asked Questions

I BOUGHT “BRAND X” PALLET FORKS. CAN VIRNIG TINES BE USED ON THEM?

As long as the fork in question uses an ITA Class II mount tine, the fork tines should be interchangeable. Virnig cannot guarantee fit. Please contact Virnig at 800-648-2408 with questions.

WHAT IS THE DISTANCE BETWEEN THE HOOKS ON YOUR TINES?

The distance between the hooks on the tine of the ITA Class II mount is 16 1/16” to 16 1/8”.

WHAT STYLE PALLET FORK LATCHES DO YOU SELL?

Cascade round knob style latches, Vetter lever style latches, and lever style latches for Global Sourced tines.

WHAT TINE LENGTH WILL FIT MY APPLICATION?

Tine length should be chosen based on the size of pallets that will be moved. Properly sizing tine length based on pallet size will prevent costly damage to loads and equipment. The tines should not be too short for the pallet, should not stick out of the end, and should allow the operator to center the load properly.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE WALK-THROUGH AND THE HEX-GUARD PALLET FORK?

While Walk-Through Pallet Forks use the same frame, rail, and tines as the Hex-Guard Rail Pallet Fork, but there is an open backrest instead of a closed brickguard. This design allows easier operator entry and exit.

HOW DO THE RAIL AND BACKREST DIFFER FROM OTHER BRANDS OF PALLET FORKS?

The backrest is ¼” x 2” formed and welded flat steel with a ⅜” grade 80 rail. The backrest is vertically flush with the tines to help keep material on the pallet. All Virnig pallet fork frames are laser cut and precision welded to deliver optimal performance.

DOES IT MATTER WHICH LATCH I ORDER?

Yes, it matters. Each type latch is designed differently and is only compatible with the correct type of tine.

I ORDERED A VETTER STYLE LATCH KIT AND THERE WERE TWO LATCHES IN IT. DOES THIS KIT SERVICE BOTH TINES?

No. The latches in the Vetter kit are different sizes and customers will need to order one kit per tine.

HOW DOES THE VIRNIG PALLET FORK PROVIDE VALUE OVER LESS EXPENSIVE COMPETITORS?

Inferior pallet forks wear out or fail due to stress easier and more rapidly, costing the operator money in downtime and repairs. Virnig pallet forks are engineered to be stronger, thicker, heavier, and of a higher quality than the competition. With weight rated tines, a high visibility brickguard, a heavy rail system, and proper welding/gusseting, the Virnig pallet fork provides longevity and reliability.

WHAT TYPE OF ATTACHMENT INTERFACE/HOOKUP DOES VIRNIG USE?

All Virnig skid steer attachments are manufactured with a universal mount to fit most skid steer loaders. The mounting frame is built to ISO 24410 and SAE J2513 standards.

All Virnig mini skid steer attachments are manufactured with a Toro®/mini universal mount, Bobcat® mount, or ASV® mount.

WHAT IS THE SETUP TIME FOR A VIRNIG ATTACHMENT?

Most Virnig attachments are ready to work right off the pallet.

To minimize setup time, Virnig Manufacturing requires the machine brand and model to be listed in every order for attachments with hydraulic components. This ensures proper hose length, routing, and coupler sizing. In addition, all hydraulic Virnig Attachments are tested for leaks and proper operation before leaving the factory. There may be specific scenarios in which additional setup time will be required.

HOW QUICKLY CAN I GET REPLACEMENT PARTS?

Most parts for Virnig skid steer attachments are available in-stock and can be shipped as early as the same day the order is received. Fabricated and back ordered parts are available with a reasonable lead time. Virnig uses several shipping options to provide timely and cost effective delivery to customers.

Check with a local Virnig dealer for replacement part availability.

WHAT WARRANTY DOES VIRNIG OFFER?

All Virnig parts and attachments are warranted for one year from the end user’s date of purchase, or the dealer’s date of first rental/demonstration. If the warranty period has expired, a sales receipt or first rental slip will be required for warranty consideration.

WHY DOES VIRNIG USE NITROSTEEL® CYLINDER RODS?

Virnig uses NitroSteel® cylinder rods because they are a superior performing alternative to chrome plating. The finish offers improved corrosion resistance and better grease retention.

Chrome plated cylinder rods can flake or pit and destroy the seals or other internal components; resulting in downtime and expensive repairs.

A NitroSteel® rod will perform better and increase the service life of a cylinder, making it the cost-effective choice. Learn more about the benefits of the NitroSteel® process.
