Below are various questions Virnig Manufacturing receives on a regular basis. Browse through the following questions and click on a question to see the answer. If you do not see your question listed below please contact a local Virnig dealer or call 800.648.2408.
At minimum, the Raking Width at Full Angle should be wider than your loader’s tracks. Please refer to the spec table to see which models work for your skid steer. Also note that the wider the unit the easier it will be to maintain grade.
Virnig does not offer the Power Rake in high flow. All Power Rake motors are rated for 15-25 gpm with zero overflow tolerance. Operating at higher than 25 gpm will void the warranty.
Yes, the Power Rake is designed to operate in both directions. The operator should rotate the Power Rake drum in the opposite direction of the the skid steer.
Solid urethane filled tires to prevent downtime due to flats.
Yes, replacement teeth are available for purchase. Note the original tooth and holder need to be cut off and the new tooth welded directly to the drum. This may take an extended amount of time. Also, teeth are a wear part and broken teeth are not considered a warranty item.
Alternatively, Virnig offers entire replacement drums, which may be a better option if many teeth need to be replaced.
The Power Rake is designed to be used on many soil types, but may have trouble in sticky/wet ground or weedy areas that are untended (the weeds will wrap around the drum). When working sod or compacted soil, multiple passes may be necessary to achieve desired effect.

Virnig uses NitroSteel® rods because they are a superior performing alternative to chrome plating. The finish offers improved corrosion resistance and better grease retention.
Chrome plated cylinder rods can flake or pit and destroy the seals or other internal components; resulting in downtime and expensive repairs.
A NitroSteel® rod will perform better and increase the service life of a cylinder, making it the cost-effective choice.
Most Virnig attachments are ready to work right off the pallet.
To minimize set up time, Virnig Manufacturing requires the machine brand and model to be listed on each order for attachments with hydraulic components to ensure proper hose length, routing, and coupler sizing. In addition, all hydraulic Virnig Attachments are tested for leaks and proper operation before leaving the factory. There may be specific scenarios in which additional setup time will be required.
Most parts for Virnig skid steer attachments are available in-stock and can be shipped as early as the same day the order is received. Fabricated and back ordered parts are available with a reasonable lead time. Virnig uses several shipping options to provide timely and cost effective delivery to customers.
Check with a local Virnig dealer for replacement part availability.

I recently rented Virnig 6 Ft. power rake. I was impressed by the build quality and design. I used to own another manufacturers rake and I sold it because it did not hold up to daily use. What I like about the Virnig Power Rake is the following. Direct drive, no chains to stretch or break, no gear case to service or leak. Wide solid wheels, no flats and no need to hand rake out when using the rake in reverse because the wide tires don’t leave ruts. The retractable wheels are perfect when you need to get up close to a flower bed, tree or other obstruction. I will not due to build quality the wheel arms are heavy and repositioning the wheels is not a one person job. You can use the skid steer and roll the bucket out but you must disconnect the hydraulic lines or you will tare them off the machine. I suggest if you buy this rake put longer hoses on it to alleviate any potential damage. The build quality overall is impressive. My old rake used to stall and flex when I got into tough soil. The bolts holding the wheels and the roller to the gear case would always come loose or strip. I checked the Virnig over and it doesn’t seem to have the same weak points. Last and most important is that Bryan Virnig reached out to me in an email personally when I inquired about my closest vendor. That tells me that customer service is a large part of Virnig’s business plan. Thanks for building high quality products and more importantly standing behind them. -Craig
