V50 Low Profile Snow Pusher Frequently Asked Questions

WHY DOES VIRNIG USE FLOATING SIDE PLATES?

Floating side plates allow consistent down pressure on the cutting edge. Since the side plates don’t support the pusher’s weight, it allows the pusher’s cutting edge to stay in constant contact with ground for a clean finish.

Other Snow Pushers have solid side plates that must be adjusted as the edge wears. These can be difficult to evenly adjust. As the cutting edge wears the side plates may prevent the cutting edge from engaging the surface and leave a thin layer of snow behind.

WHAT IS THE BENEFIT OF THE PULL BACK OPTION?

The Pull Back option allows the operator to remove snow next to large objects and buildings by rolling the Snow Pusher forward and dragging backwards. This Pull Back is perfect for finishing work in a lot, removal next to buildings, or any place back-dragging is an option.

DO SNOW PUSHERS HAVE OTHER USES?

Yes. Snow Pushers can be used for any light materials moving/handling – which includes water, mud, sludge, silage, grain, manure, and trash.

What width should I purchase for the V50 Low Profile Snow Pusher?

A small to mid-sized skid steer will effectively handle the V50 Low Profile Snow Pusher 84 and V50 Low Profile Snow Pusher 96. A large framed skid steer will effectively handle the V50 Low Profile Snow Pusher 108 and V50 Low Profile Snow Pusher 120.

In heavier snow a loader is more likely to break traction and quit pushing. If pushing long runs or wet and heavy snow then a LSWP84 or LSWP96 will likely be the better choice regardless of skid loader size.

Selecting a pusher that is too wide will add weight, volume, and surface area, all factors that could affect performance. Contact your local Virnig dealer for more information regarding pusher width.

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF THE V50 LOW PROFILE SNOW PUSHER?

The V50 Low Profile Snow Pusher is designed short enough for use under many types of semi trailers and provides excellent visibility over other snow skid steer attachments. It will oscillate, but does not have a floating pin option like the standard snow pusher. For this reason it is a more cost effective alternative to a full sized Snow Pusher.

CAN I GET THE V50 LOW PROFILE SNOW PUSHER WITH A STEEL OR POLY EDGE?

No, the Virnig V50 Low Profile Snow Pusher is only available with a rubber edge because its design is meant to use the edge as the main point of contact with the floating sides used to contain snow.

However, the Virnig V60 Steel Edge Snow Pusher is an excellent option for those looking to utilize a steel cutting edge.

DOES THE CUTTING EDGE EVER NEED TO BE ADJUSTED?

No. The edge never requires adjustment. The frame oscillation compensates for edge wear. Once the edge is worn to the steel it simply needs to be flipped over to utilize the other edge.

CAN THE SNOW PUSHER PILE SNOW?

Yes, the Snow Pusher will be able to pile snow as high as the operator’s skid steer can reach. This gives users the ability to strategically set up stacking points in the work area to keep snow piles away from heavy traffic areas.

All Virnig mini skid steer attachments are manufactured with a Toro®/mini universal mount, Bobcat® mount, or ASV® mount.

WHAT IS THE SETUP TIME FOR A VIRNIG ATTACHMENT?

Most Virnig attachments are ready to work right off the pallet.

To minimize setup time, Virnig Manufacturing requires the machine brand and model to be listed in every order for attachments with hydraulic components. This ensures proper hose length, routing, and coupler sizing. In addition, all hydraulic Virnig Attachments are tested for leaks and proper operation before leaving the factory. There may be specific scenarios in which additional setup time will be required.

WHY DOES VIRNIG USE NITROSTEEL® CYLINDER RODS?

Virnig uses NitroSteel® cylinder rods because they are a superior performing alternative to chrome plating. The finish offers improved corrosion resistance and better grease retention.

Chrome plated cylinder rods can flake or pit and destroy the seals or other internal components; resulting in downtime and expensive repairs.

A NitroSteel® rod will perform better and increase the service life of a cylinder, making it the cost-effective choice. Learn more about the benefits of the NitroSteel® process.
