V60 Industrial Rotary Cutter Frequently Asked Questions
IF I HAVE A LOADER WITH A STANDARD AND HIGH FLOW OPTION, WHICH V60 INDUSTRIAL ROTARY CUTTER SHOULD I ORDER?
Generally, higher GPM is better. Higher GPM provides more torque which prevents the cutter from losing power as easily and allows the cutter to return to cutting speed faster. There may be situations in which this is not true. For more information, contact your local Virnig dealer.
WHAT IS THE CUTTING CAPACITY OF THE V60 INDUSTRIAL ROTARY CUTTER?
The V60 Industrial Rotary Cutter can cut trees up to 8” in diameter. Cutting trees larger than 8” in diameter could damage the motor and components and lead to expensive repairs.
WHAT IS THE V60 INDUSTRIAL ROTARY CUTTER'S BEST APPLICATION?
The V60 Industrial Rotary Cutter is designed to rough-cut large, dense brush or trees up to 8” in diameter.
WHAT ARE THE DIFFERENCES BETWEEN THE V60 INDUSTRIAL ROTARY CUTTER AND THE V50 ROTARY BRUSH CUTTER?
- The V60 Industrial Rotary Cutter’s four-blade flywheel system is about 200 pounds heavier than any V50 Rotary Brush Cutter, which only has three blades. Plus, the Industrial Rotary Cutter blades are double-sided.
- The V60 Industrial Rotary Cutters larger motor helps the blades maintain speed through thick undergrowth.
- The V60 Industrial Rotary Cutter is 300-800 pounds heavier than a V50 Rotary Brush Cutter, which will require a larger skid steer to effectively handle it (loader capacity > 2,200 pounds).
WHAT IS THE CUTTING CAPACITY OF THE INDUSTRIAL ROTARY CUTTER?
The Industrial Rotary Cutter can cut trees up to 8” in diameter. Cutting trees larger than 8” in diameter could damage the motor and components and lead to expensive repairs.
DOES THE V60 INDUSTRIAL BRUSH CUTTER CUT BI-DIRECTIONALLY?
No. Running the flywheel system in reverse will cause the cutter to cut poorly, easily stall, and have minimal torque.
The V60 Industrial Brush Cutter is designed to spin counter-clockwise and takes 10 seconds to slow down. If the flywheel is running in reverse, slow down will be much faster and very loud.
Operating the V60 Industrial Brush Cutter’s flywheel in the counter-clockwise direction is essential for proper operation preventing damage to the cutter’s blades and motor.
HOW IMPORTANT IS A QUALITY SPINDLE?
The spindle is the most expensive performance component on a skid steer brush cutter. It is responsible for smoothly transferring power from the hydraulic motor to the flywheel and absorbing impact that could damage the hydraulic motor.
High-performance skid steer brush cutters require heavy-duty spindles to ensure reliability and productivity. Virnig understands this requirement by using a 3 ⅜” forged spindle shaft with USA made bearings on all V60 Industrial Brush Cutter models.
DOES THE V60 INDUSTRIAL ROTARY CUTTER HAVE A STUMP GRINDING FLYWHEEL?
No, but by slightly tilting the deck forward the blades can cut stumps down to the ground.
IS THE V60 INDUSTRIAL ROTARY CUTTER AVAILABLE WITH A FLOATING DECK OR ROLLERS?
No, the V60 Industrial Rotary Cutter is not designed for finish work like a Rotary Brush Cutter, so the floating deck and rollers are not options.
WHAT PROTECTS THE HYDRAULIC SYSTEM FROM PRESSURE SPIKES?
Standard pressure relief valves protect the motor and the loader’s hydraulic system from damaging pressure spikes. When the maximum pressure point is reached, the valve opens to prevent pressure from rising any further. This prevents seals or other internal components from breaking due to excessive pressure.
WHY DO I NEED A SHATTERPROOF CAB ON MY LOADER?
Skid steer brush cutters are capable of throwing debris over 200 feet and can cause serious bodily harm or death if not used with a shatterproof cab.
WHAT WIDTH SHOULD I PURCHASE?
For efficient operation, purchase a V60 Industrial Rotary Cutter with a cut width that is wider than the tires or tracks of your loader.
Loader capacity should also be considered. Selecting a skid steer attachment that is too wide will add weight, volume, and surface area, all factors that could affect performance.
WHAT MOTOR FLOW RATE SHOULD I PURCHASE?
The brush cutter motor flow rate should be optimized to match the skid steer’s flow rate. These are measured in gallons per minute (GPM). Running a higher GPM than the brush cutter motor is rated for can potentially damage the motor and will void the warranty. All Virnig skid steer attachments with hydraulic motors have a zero overflow rating to prevent premature failure.
Virnig Frequently Asked Questions
HOW DO I PURCHASE VIRNIG SKID STEER ATTACHMENTS?
Virnig sells skid steer attachments through a network of independently owned dealers. Call 800-648-2408 for assistance in finding a dealer or use the online Dealer Finder.
WHAT TYPE OF ATTACHMENT INTERFACE/HOOKUP DOES VIRNIG USE?
Virnig skid steer attachments are manufactured with a universal mount to fit most skid steer loaders. Mounting frame is built to ISO 24410 and SAE J2513 standards.
DOES VIRNIG BUILD MINI-SKID STEER ATTACHMENTS?
All attachments have a universal skid steer mount. Use the recommended loader capacity listed per attachment to determine if it is properly sized for the machine in question.
WHAT IS RECOMMENDED LOADER CAPACITY?
Virnig skid steer attachments are rated to provide maximum performance and protection from damage when used with an appropriately sized skid loader.

Contact a local Virnig dealer for the most accurate specs, or contact Virnig at 800.648.2408.
WHY DOES VIRNIG USE NITROSTEEL® CYLINDER RODS?
Virnig uses NitroSteel® rods because they are a superior performing alternative to chrome plating. The finish offers improved corrosion resistance and better grease retention.
Chrome plated cylinder rods can flake or pit and destroy the seals or other internal components; resulting in downtime and expensive repairs.
A NitroSteel® rod will perform better and increase the service life of a cylinder, making it the cost-effective choice.
WHAT IS THE SETUP TIME FOR A VIRNIG SKID STEER ATTACHMENT?
Most Virnig attachments are ready to work right off the pallet.
To minimize set up time, Virnig Manufacturing requires the machine brand and model to be listed on each order for attachments with hydraulic components to ensure proper hose length, routing, and coupler sizing. In addition, all hydraulic Virnig Attachments are tested for leaks and proper operation before leaving the factory. There may be specific scenarios in which additional setup time will be required.
HOW QUICKLY CAN I GET REPLACEMENT PARTS?
Most parts for Virnig skid steer attachments are available in-stock and can be shipped as early as the same day the order is received. Fabricated and back ordered parts are available with a reasonable lead time. Virnig uses several shipping options to provide timely and cost effective delivery to customers.
Check with a local Virnig dealer for replacement part availability.
WHAT WARRANTY DOES VIRNIG OFFER?
All Virnig parts and attachments are warranted for one year from the end user’s date of purchase, or the dealer’s date of first rental/demonstration. If the warranty period has expired, a sales receipt or first rental slip will be required for warranty consideration.
