Bolt-On Grapple Frequently Asked Questions

CAN I INSTALL THE VIRNIG BOLT-ON GRAPPLE ON ANY BRAND OF SKID STEER BUCKET?

The Virnig Bolt-On Grapple is designed for use on Virnig buckets that are 60”-84” wide. It is not guaranteed to work on other brands. A fitment guide can be provided upon request.

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF THE BOLT-ON GRAPPLE?

The Virnig Bolt-On Grapple is easy to install and can be detached, unlike fixed jaw grapples. Because of the versatility, the Bolt-On Grapple is also a cost effective alternative to buying a purpose specific fixed jaw skid steer grapple.

WHAT VIRNIG SKID STEER BUCKETS ARE COMPATIBLE WITH THE BOLT-ON GRAPPLE?

The Bolt-On Grapple is compatible with:

  • V40 Low Profile Dirt Buckets (additional drilling or welding will be required to secure the Bolt-on Grapple to the V40 Low Profile Dirt Bucket)
  • V50 Low Profile Dirt Buckets
  • V60 Heavy-Duty Low Profile Dirt Buckets
  • V50 Utility Buckets
  • V60 Utility Buckets
  • V40 Skeleton Rock Buckets
  • V50 Skeleton Rock Buckets
  • V60 Skeleton Rock Buckets
  • V40 Utility Forks

*While the Bolt-on Grapple will mount on all the above buckets, the Loader Capacity still needs to be under 1800 lbs.

The Bolt-On Grapple is NOT compatible with:

  • All Snow/Light Material Buckets
  • Manure Slurry Buckets
  • V30 Compact Tractor Utility Forks
  • V30 Compact Tractor Rock Buckets
WHY DOESN’T VIRNIG FACTORY INSTALL BOLT-ON GRAPPLES?

To keep prices low for Virnig customers. Special parts and unique hole placement is needed to install Bolt-on Grapples, so adding these part and holes to each bucket would increase the price. Instead, Virnig has added value by making the installation process required, but easy, for the customer.

WHY DOES VIRNIG USE NITROSTEEL® CYLINDER RODS?

Virnig uses NitroSteel® cylinder rods because they are a superior performing alternative to chrome plating. The finish offers improved corrosion resistance and better grease retention.

Chrome plated cylinder rods can flake or pit and destroy the seals or other internal components; resulting in downtime and expensive repairs.

A NitroSteel® rod will perform better and increase the service life of a cylinder, making it the cost-effective choice.
