Maintenance Technician

Virnig Manufacturing is in search of an experienced Maintenance Technician. This position will perform a large variety of duties required to keep all production and building equipment running correctly, smoothly, efficiently, and safely.


  • Tool maintenance and repair (electrical, air and manual tools)
  • Lifting equipment maintenance and repair (clams, slings, hoists, jibs, etc.)
  • Forklift maintenance and repairs
  • Building maintenance and repairs (dock plates, doors, lights, HVAC, air handing, air lines, plumbing, basic electrical)
  • Large machinery maintenance and repairs (laser, press break, CNC, etc.)
  • Painting equipment maintenance and repair
  • Organize and/or perform daily, monthly, quarterly, and yearly safety inspections (forklifts, fire extinguishers, carbon monoxide, etc.)
  • Organize and record repair and maintenance information, such as type, cost and frequency in spreadsheets and graphical form
  • Perform lockout/tagout procedures when machines are being worked on
  • Ground work (snow removal, ice melting, lawn care, general cleaning, etc.)
  • Inform and enforce safety protocol to outside contractors
  • Assist with new equipment installations and ship set up
  • Any other duties assigned


  • High School Diploma or equivalent; basic math skills required
  • Previous employment with maintenance responsibilities and experience is preferred
  • Forklift and Hoist maintenance and repair experience
  • Ability to interpret blueprints, drawings, sketches, schematics, and operator/parts manuals
  • Previous experience diagnosing PLC Issues
  • Previous experience of basic building jobs (basic plumbing, dock plates, doors, HVAC, air handling, air lines, lighting, etc.)
  • Ability to work in confined spaces, be comfortable with heights, lift up to 100 lbs, bend, twist, stand or sit for long periods, endure repetitive motion
  • Knowledge of a wide variety of hand and portable power tools, weld equipment, torches, electronic testing devices and motorized equipment
  • Must be able to work independently, with company personnel and vendors
  • Read and follow instructions; both written and verbal
  • Must be organized and maintain a clean work area
  • Pay close attention to details and maintain data integrity to a high degree
  • Good communication skills (verbal, listening, written)
